Spam e-mails.

(September 30, 2014)
We have received a report today from a lady who has received an e-mail from [email protected] purporting to be from us regarding an order that she has not made. This is not our e-mail address. There was an attachment to this e-mail which thankfully she did not open. We have reported this matter to the Police, Action Fraud, which is run by the City of London Police and National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, they have given us this reference number: NFRC140900782718. Apparently there has been a recent spate of similar incidents of e-mails pretending to be from a company regarding an order which has not been made. The e-mails may contain a mobile number which may belong to a completely innocent individual who knows nothing about it, as they have also had reports from people who have received calls on their mobile phones about orders they know nothing about.
If you should receive such an e-mail purporting to be from us, do not open the attachment. If you click on it, it may seem not to be doing anything but a virus could be put onto your computer, as the police believe this is the purpose of the e-mail . We do not send out unsolicited e-mails with attachments. If you have placed an order with us you receive a response from our website and you will receive confirmation of your payment, but you will of course be expecting this as you will have ordered a bear. The only e-mails we send with attachments are those with photographs attached and you will know if you are expecting such a photograph, the name of the bear or other identifying reference will be in the title.
Payments made on our website are dealt with by the Merchant Services provided by Paypal which is a totally secure system. We do not have any access to your card or banking details.
We apologize if you have received such an e-mail but we can assure you that it has not come from us, and it seems that in this wonderful world of the internet we are unable to prevent our name being used in such a way. Please report the incident to the Police at Action Fraud quoting the reference above, they are open 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Their number is 0300 123 2040 and the website is www.actionfraud.police.uk
Thank you.
