Stumpy 1

Welcome to our new Blog! I am hoping that this year I will be able to keep it more up to date, to let you know what we are working on and how all our bear's progress through the creation process. Do feel free to respond and let us know what you think about our bears, we love to hear from all our Collectors.

As mentioned on our Shop Page, I have been hard at work for the last couple of days designing and making a new style of small bear and so we are delighted to introduce Stumpy! He is a prototype of the new pattern and so he is not available to adopt but I wanted you to see him and to give you the chance to let me know what you think of him! He is around 5" tall and is very different to our other bears. It is always fascinating to see how a new pattern will turn out, whether the time has been wasted or whether the result is worth the effort. I hope you think it has been worth the time creating Stumpy, I really like him. He has very short legsStumpy 4 with tiny feet, short arms, a long rounded body and a sweet face. I have used longer fur for his head so that he has a fringe of hair which he peeps through very appealingly. He is heavily filled with steel shot which gives him a nice weight. Future bears will be made in different colours, I like the combination of the short fur and the longer fur for his head but to enable us to make more bears in this style, we need to be able to vary the fur so I will try different mixes to see how they look. We have got a lovely selection of the longer fur in different colours, plus we can of course always hand dye them to create true "one-off" bears. It is fairly impossible to duplicate hand dyed fur so you always know the bear really is original, and as you know, we always endeavour to make each of our bears different.

Stumpy 2I haven't decided on what this style of bear is to be called, the name Stumpy sort of stuck because he is a bit short! However, we need a theme because we can't call them all Stumpy! So we will have to work on that over the next few days. I will start work on the second of these bears tomorrow and hope to be able to add him to the Website soon so do keep and eye on the New Bears page to see what the next one looks like. We think they will be available for £45 plus postage.

As well as Stumpy, we have been working on our new Fabric Featured Collection and you can see Bombazine on the New Bears Page. He is the first bear in this new Collection and I hope you like him. Steve is working on another of these bears which will be finished soon. This one will be a larger bear and I am looking forward to seeing what he looks like. As you can see, we are hard at work and back to full production after the Christmas break. The weather doesn't encourage us to venture out very much so we are keeping warm and making bears! I will write again soon, have a good week and keep warm! Don't forget to let us know what you think of Stumpy.
